After all my big talk yesterday about going hard and doing killer workouts every available day this week, I didn’t even make it to the gym tonight. Here’s why:
That’s right, a third cat has joined the household. Aaron has been down for sometime about me, Piper and Phoebe (the two current cats) leaving for Chicago at the end of the summer. I knew he wanted to get another cat to keep him company… I just didn’t know he would be getting it today.
We went to Petsmart to pick up some food for Piper and Phoebe and Aaron just fell in love with a 2 year old brown tabby in the adoption center named Lucy. Who was I to say no? I know I would be bedridden with grief if the tables were turned and Aaron was the one moving away with the cats in tow. So here we are, a party of five now.
Currently Lucy is quartered off in the sun room (with Aaron since he wants to bond with his new baby). Phoebe keeps sticking her paws under the door and is always shocked by the paws that come back in response. Piper has decided to sulk, which is to be expected as she has sulked about matters far less in gravity than this.
Lucy, so far, is adapting quite well. She is all purrs and rubs, grateful to have been released from her prison in the cramped adoption center, I’m sure. She has pottied in the right place, eaten her fill of food, and engaged in play with a fuzzy blue mouse that Piper and Phoebe abandoned long ago. I think she knows she’s home.
I was still intent on getting in a workout tonight despite the unexpected shift in the domestic structure. I made a quick arm-centric circuit workout (since I was planning to work arms at the gym today) that sufficiently wore me out. I followed it up with the “Six Pack Abs” workout from my 10 Minute Solutions: Blast Off Belly Fat DVD.
It’s been a long evening, so I’m off to bed!
